The Color Purple

تدور أحداث هذا الفيلم حول قصة حياة السيدة (سيلي جونسون) ذات البشرة السمراء ، التي عاشت وواجهت من الصعوبات والمتاعب ما لا يمكن تصوره ، ففي سن المراهقة تحمل طفلا داخل أحشائها من والدها المغتصب الذي يعتدي عليها ، لتتواصل متاعب (سيلي) عندما يزوجها والدها من (ميستر) ، ويحولها من زوجة إلى مجرد خادمة ، حيث تتحرك حياة (سيلي) من سيئ إلى أسوأ ، وتحاول التعايش مع ظروفها الصعبة معتمدة في تماسكها على علاقة صداقة غير متوقعة مع عشيقة (ميستر) التي تشفق عليها .

An epic tale spanning forty years in the life of Celie, an African-American woman living in the South who survives incredible abuse and bigotry. After Celie's abusive father marries her off to the equally debasing 'Mister' Albert Johnson, things go from bad to worse, leaving Celie to find companionship anywhere she can. She perseveres, holding on to her dream of one day being reunited with her sister in Africa.
