استناداً إلى قوانين لعبة الدفاع عن النفس الشعبية تأتي إلينا حكاية مقاتلنا النبيل (أكيرا) الفتى العسكري الوحيد القادر على تعلم فنون القتال بشكل محترف, تلك الفنون التي لا يقدر أحداً على مجاراته بها. بعد قضاء فترة كبيرة في التجوال والتدرب على فنون القتال والدفاع الذاتي يجبره التجوال في أن يكون هدف لمؤامرة دولية ماكرة لم يرغب في الإنضمام لها ليصبح عندها مطارداً من قبل هذه العصابة. من خلال رحلته يتعرف بطلنا على أصدقاء رائعون منهم (باي)،(سارة) و (جاكي) والكثير من الأشخاص الذي يقوم (أكيرا) بمساعدتهم, مغامرة شيقة, ضربات قاتلة في سبيل تحقيق العدالة.

Akira Yuki has spent years honing his skills under the guidance of his grandfather. Meanwhile, a nefarious robotics scientist, Eva Durix, desires to create the perfect soldier. Eva kidnaps Sarah Bryant, a close acquaintance of Akira and now he must now fight his way to Sarah to save her.

Akira of the Hakkyoku-Ken

Akira has set out on a journey to find eight stars only those with true strength can see. He finds himself in a Chinese restaurant in New Hollywood, where a girl, Pai, runs into him. Pai is being chased by the Koenkan, which is like a Chinese mafia and she also happens to be a martial artist. Akira gets himself involved, but Pai gets captured. And so it's up to Akira to save her from being sent to Hong Kong.
